McLaren back for Panthers T20 trip

Monday 25th May 2009

THE Kent Spitfires have made two changes to their 12 for tomorrow“s game with the Middlesex Panthers at Lord“s. Key all-rounder Ryan McLaren returns to the side, following his spell at the Indian Premier League, while Darren Stevens has recovered from his broken finger.

Spinner Rob Ferley – who played against Essex yesterday – and Sam Northeast – who was 12th man – are the two players to miss out.

Last year’s final between the two sides went right to the last ball, as I“m sure you all painfully remember. Sadly Kent couldn“t score the four runs they needed and fell agonisingly short – meaning Middlesex lifted the trophy.

Kent captain Rob Key will naturally be keen to avenge that defeat – as keen as Panthers’ skipper Shaun Udal will be to hold on to the trophy. With the newly installed floodlights at Lord’s, in action for the first time, it’s sure to be an atmospheric occasion. The game starts at 6.45pm. Please try to get along and offer your vocal support for Rob Key“s Spitfires!

The full Kent 12 is as follows: Joe Denly, Rob Key (C), Martin van Jaarsveld, Geraint Jones (W), Darren Stevens, Justin Kemp, Azhar Mahmood, Ryan McLaren, Simon Cook, James Tredwell, Rob Joseph, James Hockley.
