Members’ update 30/03/22: Club Governance

Ahead of the 2022 season, Members have started to receive their Membership packs for the year, including key documents that support proposed governance reforms at Kent Cricket:

  • Club Constitution and Rules 2022
  • Nomination Committee Terms of Reference
  • Report of the Shadow Nom Com with biographies of all 11 proposed Non-Executive Directors and includes a voting slip on inside cover

Members will be asked to approve the new Club Rules and Terms of Reference plus ratify the new Board at the Club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 25 April at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence. Members can gain entrance to the AGM upon presenting a valid Membership card for 2022.

A postal voting process is also being run to allow as many Members as possible to take part. The deadline for receipt by the Club of any voting slip is 09:00 on Monday 25 April, 2022.

Kent Cricket’s Board structure and proposed Board line-up will bring the Club into line with the Sport England code, the County Partnership Agreement (CPA) that we have entered into with the ECB to secure funding, and also forms part of Kent Cricket’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Action Plan.

Simon Philip, Chair of Kent Cricket, who as Chair of the Shadow Nominations Committee led the selection process, said: “The General Committee at Kent Cricket commenced this work two years ago as part of our Sport England and CPA commitments. It now is included under our developing EDI Action Plan.

“Over 100 applications were received for the Board, and the 11 successful candidates are all highly qualified, and offer the necessary skills to take the Club forward on all fronts. Full details are included in 2022 Membership packs.

“We strongly commend these candidates to Members, who we believe will ensure the Club has access to the necessary skills to run successfully, whilst meeting all our obligations to the ECB and Sport England and delivering our game-wide commitments to Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.”
