New range of sports merchandise now available in the Club Shop

Monday 3rd August 2009

LIFELONG Kent supporter, Ian Phipps (pictured), has produced a brand new range of exciting sports merchandise that is sure to appeal to all generations of supporters.

He has developed the new range of original products that you can buy in the X1 Wicket Club Shop at the St Lawrence Ground.

Ian has focused on three areas:

1) The achievements of the many legends that have represented Kent over the years
2) The XI’s they played in
3) Very famous moments in the Club’s history, which could be retold from a modern perspective.

The range of items falls into the following three categories:

Tribute Series
Covers individual players like Frank Woolley, Lord Cowdrey, Alan Knott, Godfrey Evans etc. which supplements similar tributes to current players, which were introduced earlier in the season.

Great Team Tributes to County Championship and One Day teams
A photograph of the team, together with a plaque that details playing results, leading batsmen, bowlers, etc.

Scorebook reproductions
Each of the scorebook pages are accompanied by a photograph of the relevant player(s) and a plaque which details the match and a brief commentary to put the events into context. Each presentation is a Limited Edition, the number of which is relevant to the event.

The games covered so far are as follows:

WG Grace’s then world record 344 at Canterbury for MCC v Kent in 1876
Sir Donald Bradman’s unbeaten double-century for the Australians at Canterbury during the 1930 tour
Kent’s record score of 803/4 declared against Essex in 1934 (the match in which Bill Ashdown made a County record 332)

Les Ames’ 100th First Class Century at Canterbury against Middlesex in 1950
Colin Cowdrey’s 100th First Class Century against Surrey at Maidstone in 1973

All items are double-mounted and presented in top quality wooden frames. With some of the scorebook presentations being in Limited Editions of just 100, we are also hopeful that they will prove a good investment purchase.
