News from the Supporters’ Club

Tuesday 7th September 2010

The Committee of the Supporters“ Club met on 7th September. A welcome was extended to Pat Mellsop, the Club“s new Commercial Director who outlined his thoughts on a wide range of issues including the role of the Supporters“ Club and feedback from supporters on all matters in relation to the services Kent CCC provide for members and supporters. The meeting also had an update from Chief Executive Jamie Clifford on playing matters and the progress of the ground redevelopment.

On domestic matters the Committee reviewed the social programme of recent months that included the success of the post-match dinners at Tunbridge Wells and Canterbury. Following these events, arrangements are now being made for the Christmas lunch to be held in Tunbridge Wells on 10th December. Full details will be circulated with the autumn magazine, due for publication in early November.

The Committee noted with regret that there had been a fall in membership during the year. Ways of recovering the loss and future membership growth are to be considered. With the annual individual membership remaining at £10 plus an additional £5 for each adult living at the same address and junior membership (12-18 year olds) entitling members to access to the marquees at Festival Weeks and a quarterly magazine, this represents excellent value.

The accounts for the year are expected to show a surplus of some £1800. It has been decided to place this for the time being in the Kent Cricket Youth Trust with a decision on its disbursement to be taken in consultation with the Academy Director.

No date has yet been fixed for the AGM but it is expected to take place towards the end of March 2011.
