Pace bowling specialist Steffan Jones to work with Kent bowlers

Former Kent, Somerset & Derbyshire seam bowler Steffan Jones will be providing specialist pace bowling coaching to Kent’s bowlers this Winter, inside the Ames Levett Indoor Sports Centre at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

Jones, who made five appearances for Kent on loan from Derbyshire in 2009, was the High Performance Fast Bowling coach for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as well as consulting for individual fast bowlers, javelin throwers and pitchers around the world.

Over seven weeks, he will work with bowlers across Kent’s Talent Pathway, including first-teamers and Academy bowlers, focusing on ‘building pace’ with weighted ball bowling, Isometric training and other methods that have brought him plaudits from all around the cricketing world.

His methods are innovative and heavily based on sports science. He has developed a reputation as an ‘outside the box’ thinker in all overhead throwing sports and is the go-to man when an increase in bowling velocity is required.
