Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy Round-Up: 12 June

With Kent’s England contingent ramping up preparations for their Test match against India this past weekend, two Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy matches had Kent Women stars featuring.

At Emerald Headingley, South East Stars, including a Kent Women contingent of Phoebe Franklin, Grace Gibbs & Alice Davidson-Richards were defeated in a final-over thriller against Northern Diamonds.

Franklin, making her second RHF Trophy appearance of the season, scored a blistering 28 not out from 25 deliveries batting at eight to salvage vital runs for the Stars. Both ‘ADR’ (14) and Gibbs (1) were bowled by England’s Jenny Gunn, after the Stars had initially won the Toss and elected to bat. They finished their 50 overs 250/6.

Gibbs and Davidson-Richards combined to dismiss Alex MacDonald in the Diamonds’ innings, ADR with the catch, with Gibbs also having earlier dismissed opener Rachel Hopkins LBW for 12. The Kent Women all-rounder also ran out the dangerous Sterre Kalis for 76.

Franklin would get her revenge on Gunn for dismissing her Kent Women teammates; taking the catch to dismiss her for 50 from the bowling of Surrey’s Bryony Smith.

The match went down to the final over, but Northern Diamonds wrapped up the victory with four balls to spare and by three wickets.

Grace Scrivens went head-to-head with Horses teammates Sarah Bryce and Kirstie Gordon at Loughborough, her Sunrisers side succumbing to Bryce & Gordon’s Lightning by five wickets.

‘Scriv’ opened the batting for Sunrisers but could only make 3 before being bowled by Sophie Munro. Kirstie Gordon finished her ten overs with figures of 1-27, and Sunrisers made 206/9 in 50 overs.

In reply, Sarah Bryce was dismissed for 16, Scrivens taking the catch from the bowling of Kelly Castle, but Lightning chased down their target of 207 in the 41st over.

The RHF Trophy now takes a break for the Regional T20 competition.
