Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy Round-Up: 5/6 June

The second weekend of the 2021 Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy saw more good performances Kent Women stars across their reigonal sides.

Alice Davidson-Richards’ highest ever List A score helped South East Stars trounce Western Storm by six wickets at the Kia Oval. The Tunbridge Wells-born all-round plundered 92 with a six and nine fours as the hosts made light work of chasing down a victory target of 246.

Davidson-Richards shared a second wicket stand of 154 with fellow England hopeful Sophia Dunkley, who also fell for 92 shortly before victory was secured with 41 balls to spare.

Horses vice-captain Tash Farrant had helped Stars’ batters by claiming 4/58 in the first innings, helping limit the visitors to 245/8. The Kent left-arm seamer bowled Fi Morris and Natasha Wrath, took a catch from her own bowling to see the back of Danielle Gibson, and combined with Horses teammate ‘ADR’ to dismiss England bowler Anya Shrubsole.

Grace Scrivens (1) & Fran Wilson (6)’s Sunrisers had a match to forget against Northern Diamonds at Cambridge, the hosts were ‘demolished’ for a meagre 53 and then the Diamonds made short work of the run-chase.

On Sunday, Lightning defeated Thunder convincingly at Chester, with three Kent Women players all contributing.

Kent Women skipper Tammy Beaumont smashed 89 from 101 deliveries with 14 fours in at three for the lightning, whilst Horses ‘keeper-batter Sarah Bryce scored 24.

Kirstie Gordon continued her hot patch of form with the ball, picking up four for 23 for the Loughborough-based side.

The next round of fixtures involving Kent Women stars takes place on Saturday 12 June (10:30 starts):

  • Northern Diamonds vs. South East Stars, Emerald Headingley
  • Lightning vs. Sunrisers, Loughborough
