Resolution passed on St Lawrence Ground redevelopment

Sunday 13th September 2009

Plans to redevelop Kent County Cricket Club“s St Lawrence Ground are back on course after members voted in favour of the scheme at a Special General Meeting, held at Canterbury earlier tonight. The Club will now conclude agreement with its commercial partners, and thus enable the scheme to proceed. The agreement, in nearly all aspects, mirrors the proposals put before the membership in September 2007.

The Committee felt that it might have been possible to proceed with the development on the basis of the existing Resolutions but, as there were some differences between the original proposal and the one now on offer, it felt it appropriate to seek specific approval at this evening“s SGM. Tonight“s decision will enable the Club to proceed with the project.

Commenting, Kent Chairman, George Kennedy, said: I“m absolutely delighted that the members have given us such a positive go ahead tonight. It“s good news for the Club and we look forward to moving the project forward as quickly as we can.”

The motion put to the meeting was carried by 1187 votes in favour to 237 against.
