Scrivens named Player of the Tournament at U19 T20 World Cup

Kent’s Grace Scrivens has been named Player of the Tournament at the first ever ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup.

England captain and stellar all-rounder Scrivens was awarded the MVP title after a run of outstanding performances with bat & ball.

Scrivens & her England side, including Kent teammates Ryana MacDonald-Gay & Alexa Stonehouse, missed out on the title, losing to India in the final, but it was an incredible tournament for a player who seems destined to play at the top senior level.

The England skipper finished the tournament as the second-highest run-scorer, hitting 293 runs across seven innings, fewer than just India’s opener Shweta Sehrawat.

Her magnificent 93 was the highest individual score of the World Cup, and the left-hander passed 50 three times in total during the campaign.

With the ball, the 19-year-old was superb too, taking 9 wickets and going for just 64 runs, proving a pivotal bowling option for England.

Her standout moment with the ball came as she completed the remarkable recovery in the semi-final to bowl out Australia, finishing that match with figures of 2-8.

She is yet to be capped by England at senior level, but her first call-up is unlikely to be far away.
