Scrivens nominated for cinch PCA Women’s Young Player of the Year

Kent Women all-rounder Grace Scrivens has been shortlisted for the cinch PCA Women’s Young Player of the Year Award for 2022.

Alongside featuring for Kent Women, the Sunrisers & London Spirit all-rounder has enjoyed a breakthrough summer, with her performances in the domestic game leading her to England A selection.

Ending the summer ranked as the fourth best player in domestic cricket according to the PCA MVP. Scoring 438 runs and taking 20 wickets for the Sunrisers in 50 and 20-over cricket, her summer started by scoring 141 runs and taking seven wickets at an average of 21.7, with best figures of 4-33 in the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

The 18-year-old also performed brilliantly in the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy, scoring 297 runs at an average of 49.5, including four fifties with a highest score of 74. With the ball, Scrivens took 13 wickets at a fantastic average of 14.7, finishing as leading wicket taker in the competition.

The shortlists for the cinch PCA Men’s Young and cinch PCA Women’s Young Player of the Year categories have been revealed ahead of the 2022 cinch PCA Awards with six of the season’s outstanding performers across international and domestic cricket recognised.

The cinch PCA Awards traditionally brings the curtain down on the professional season with the biggest awards ceremony in English cricket. Hundreds of current and former players join key members of the industry to champion the best-performing individuals of the summer while reflecting on those who have given so much to the game.

Covering the full professional game, players are honoured across international, domestic, men’s and women’s cricket, with the awards ceremony returning to The Hurlingham Club on Thursday 6 October.

Following a vote by professional players in England and Wales, last year’s inaugural cinch PCA Women’s Young Player of the Year, Alice Capsey, is honoured again following her international cricket breakthrough, this time shortlisted alongside Sunrisers’ Grace Scrivens and 17-year-old Freya Kemp.

In the men’s category, three current England Men’s players make up the shortlist for the cinch PCA Men’s Young Player of the Year with Harry Brook selected following successfully winning this same award in 2021. The Yorkshireman is joined by two recently capped England players in Surrey all-rounder Will Jacks and Durham’s Matthew Potts.

The most prestigious awards ceremony in English cricket recognises the best performing individuals across the year based on the opinions of fellow players. Those aged 23 or younger as of 1 April 2022 were eligible in the Young Player of the Year Award categories.
