Sean Dickson in Spitfires squad for sell-out Tunbridge Wells T20

New signing Sean Dickson is included in the Spitfires squad to face Glamorgan in front of a capacity crowd at The Nevill Ground in Tunbridge Wells on Friday evening.

The 23-year-old batsman could make his debut in the sell-out NatWest T20 Blast fixture as Kent seek to cement top spot after securing a home quarter-final with back-to-back wins last weekend.

With a last eight post in the bag, all-rounder Matt Coles is rested after bowling more than 370 overs in all formats already this season.

There will be no tickets for the Glamorgan match sold at the ground with only members and ticket-holders allowed entry to see the table-topping Spitfires in action as the Tunbridge Wells Cricket Festival begins.

Alex Blake who plundered an unbeaten 59 from 24 balls at Cheltenham on Sunday to clinch a home draw in the knockout stages and the 26-year-old Kent Cricket Academy graduate will be hoping to dish out similar punishment to the Glamorgan attack at the leafy Nevill Ground.

The muscular left-hander from Beckenham said: “Tunbridge Wells is a little like Cheltenham, it’s another compact out-ground, with short straight boundaries and, once the ball pierces through the infield you’re usually rewarded with a boundary. So I’m hoping we can provide some more fireworks for the Kent fans.

“I was so pleased to see us over the win line against Gloucestershire last weekend because it could have gone either way when I went in to bat. Sam departed soon after I went in, so it was up to me to get the job done. I’m delighted I managed to pull it off.

“On these smaller club grounds you never really know what a defendable target is, anything can seem possible sometimes, but in this format we’ve got good skills and a lot of confidence behind us off the back of our nine wins. So, while we’ll respect Glamorgan, we can continue to play without fear.”
