Sean Dickson warms up for 2016 season with back-to-back 50s

Sean Dickson warmed up for the 2016 season with back-to-back half-centuries for Pretoria High School Old Boys in South Africa.

The 24-year-old hit nine fours and two sixes in an unbeaten 67 as he shared an unbroken 156-run stand with Jacques Snyman (124*) to clinch an eight-wicket win against Christian Brothers College Old Boys on Saturday.

Dickson followed the red-ball display with a top score of 54 as PHSOB scored 165 for seven to win a T20 quarter-final against Harlequins on Sunday.

The right-hander, who has a UK passport thanks to his Kentish mother, said: “Since the festive season, the hard work started again and I have been hitting the nets and working on my fitness.

“I enjoyed the break, so feeling very motivated and keen to get back to the UK.

“My targets for the new season are very simple: I want to be as successful as I can with the bat!

“Coming off a great season in 2015, I would like to do even better and to just enjoy myself in everything I do.”

Elsewhere in South Africa, Adam Ball helped Claremont wrap up a five-wicket win against Northern Goodwood in the two-day tournament.

On Sunday, Claremont won the Groot Drakenstein six-a-side tournament and Adam Ball clubbed 28 off five balls (four sixes and a four) in the opening match before blasting a six over long-on to seal victory in the final against Boland Invitational.

Ball, who bats right-handed and bowls left arm, picked up All-Rounder of the Tournament.
