Academy scholars past and present impressed as pace-setters Sandwich Town stayed top of the Shepherd Neame Premier League with victory at Tenterden.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Jordan Cox smashed 14 fours and five sixes in a superb knock of 125 off 123 balls as the anchor of Town’s total of 384 for six after the visitors won the toss.

The 17-year-old Margate-born scholar shared century stands with Zimbabwe international Regis Chakabva (66) and Alex Smith (100).

In reply, former scholar Jordan Cox claimed 5/28 in ten tidy overs as the hosts were dismissed for 198.

Beckenham kept up the pressure on the early leaders with a 48-run win at Bromley Common with Kent ‘keeper-batsman Ollie Robinson hitting another century.

The 19-year-old struck 139 as the visitors posted 303-4 before dismissing the hosts for 255 in a keenly fought contest.

Third-placed Blackheath leapfrogged Tunbridge Wells with victory by five wickets at Rectory Field after winning the toss and dismissing the visitors for 109.

Several Blackheath batsmen got starts before wrapping up the points with 20.2 overs to spare.

Adam Riley took 3/29 in ten overs as Bexley wrapped up a seven-wicket win at home to Sevenoaks Vine.

Former Kent all-rounder Chris Piesley took 2/24 and a superb 73 not out after 21-year-old left-handed opener Jack Laraman hit 55 as they chased the target with 16 balls to spare.
