KENT continued to pile on the runs and the agony for struggling Middlesex as the visitors reached Thursday“s lunch interval on 536 for four.
Resuming on their first day total of 390 for four, Kent“s fifth wicket partners Justin Kemp (91*) and Darren Stevens (187*) extended their side“s score by 146 in the morning session with little or no alarm.
Kemp set the tone for the session by clipping the very first ball of day two from Tim Murtagh for four through mid-wicket as Kent again set about making the most of this docile pitch.
Stevens, who survived an early shout for a run out, posted his 150 from 182 balls with 27 fours while Kemp reached his third 50 of the summer from 70 balls and with nine fours.
The pair also set a new fifth-wicket record for Kent against Middlesex beating the previous record held by Brian Luckhurst and Asif Iqbal at Canterbury in 1971.
