Stevens and Mahmood top MVP rankings

Despite having bowed out of the Friends Life t20 at the group stage, Kent can boast domestic t20's two leading players over the last five years. According to the Professional Cricket Association's Most Valuable Player (MVP) Rankings, sponsored by FTI Consulting, Darren Stevens and Azhar Mahmood have scored 706.85 points and 626.22 points respectively putting them at the top of a list of stellar county names. Stevens has featured prominently in the Rankings over the last few years winning the FLt20 FTI MVP Award in 2009 and finishing in the top ten in each of the last three years. He is currently ranked second in the 2012 FLt20 FTI MVP and third in the overall Rankings, which takes into account all three formats of the game.

The FTI MVP Rankings give a more accurate reflection of a player's performance than mere averages taking into account strike rates, economy rates, catches, and the context of a match. More points are awarded, for instance, for scoring a hundred in a low team total just as for bowlers more points are scored for taking the wickets of top order batsmen.
