Stevens still in contention for FTI MVP award

The all-round skills of Darren Stevens (pictured) have kept him in the top-ten of the FTI Most Valuable Player race as the 2010 campaign draws to a close. The 34 year-old currently occupies eighth place as his fine form continues, especially with the ball.

Last week, in the LV=CC clash against Lancashire, he returned match figures of 5-88 and was even handed the new-ball in the Lancs second innings to exploit the swinging conditions. The England Lions star then followed this up with a typically pugnacious 49 off 35 balls in Kent“s 42-run romping Clydesdale Bank 40 win over the Nottinghamshire Outlaws at the St Lawrence Ground on Sunday.

The knock contained three sixes, one of which ended up in the famous lime tree. In the rankings Stevens has 453 points. Warwickshire“s Neil Carter leads the way with 548 points, with only a handful of games remaining.
