Tammy Beaumont hits fine 67 as Kent Women win at Warwickshire

Tammy Beaumont’s 67 and fine bowling from the Kent attack secured a 84-run win against Warwickshire as the county champions maintained their unbeaten run at Leamington.

Tash Farrant (3-23 in ten overs) and Laura Marsh (2-33 off ten overs) impressed with the new ball as the hosts were dismissed for 125.

Australian all-rounder Kara Sutherland (1-6 off 5 overs) dismissed opener Zahoor after Farrant and Marsh made early in-roads.

Megan Belt polished off the tail, finishing with figures of 3-20 off a tidy 7.3-over spell.

Fielder of the year Lydia Greenway grabbed a run out as Kent kept control of the contest.

Earlier, Charlotte Edwards and Beaumont gave Kent the perfect platform after being invited to bat, reaching 90 for the first wicket.

The Kent and England skipper was run out for 37 off 53 balls and her England colleague Beaumont hit nine boundaries in a 87-ball innings of 67 before being trapped LBW by Georgia Davies, who picked up 3-23.

Kent’s middle order wobbled with England hopefuls Lydia Greenway and Laura Marsh following soon after as the visitors slumped to 133-4.

Alice Davidson-Richards (27) and Kara Sutherland (23) provided good resistance before Tash Farrant and Charlotte Pape pushed the county champions over the 200 mark.
