Tammy Beaumont top-scores in England IT20 opening win

In-form Kent opener Tammy Beaumont notched a career-best score in another player-of-the-match performance in England’s 68-run win in the first NatWest IT20 against Pakistan at Bristol.

The Kent Cricket Academy graduate has passed 50 in all four international innings this summer after scoring 70, 104 and 168 not out as England won the Royal London One-Day International series v Pakistan 3-0.

The Dover-born right-hander passed her previous best of 37 in international T20s with ease, reaching 50 off 32 balls before falling for England's top score of 82 off 53 balls.

Beaumont struck ten fours and two sixes in an opening stand of 147 with Lauren Winfield (74) after England won the toss and chose to bat first.

Nat Sciver, Heather Knight and Danni Wyatt fell cheaply as England ended on 187-5, a total the tourists never looked like chasing.

Sciver, Danni Hazell and Jenny Gunn took two wickets each and debutant Sophie Ecclestone dismissed opener Sidra Ameen as Pakistan fell 68 runs short.

There was no place for Beaumont’s county colleagues Laura Marsh and Tash Farrant.

The second NatWest IT20 will take place at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Tuesday, a double-header with England men taking on Sri Lanka.

The third match is scheduled for Thursday at the Essex County Ground, Chelmsford (6.30pm). All matches will be televised on Sky Sports and broadcast on BBC Radio.
