The County Ground, Beckenham nominated for award

The County Ground, Beckenham has been shortlisted as a finalist in the ‘Best Business for Hospitality & Leisure’ category in the Bromley Business Awards.

Sports facilities revenue is up 56% for the first eight months of the financial year since the appointment of a General Manager to oversee growing the number of people, clubs and businesses using the facilities.

The County Ground now has more than 30 sports clubs using the facilities: predominantly for cricket but football and netball are also played in the indoor hall and outdoor pitches.

This has grown mainly through employing dedicated staff on site to promote the venue and engage with the local community.

The ground has already reached 82 per cent of the annual target for hospitality bookings with lots of interest in events in the run-up to Christmas and New Year.

The number of weddings has quadrupled year-on-year and the ground has hosted TV adverts, charity dinners, celebrations, school proms, exhibitions, training courses, residents association meetings and have been a polling station.

General Manager Anna Spencer said: “The award is recognition of the growth of all aspects of the business.

“The sports facilities are enjoyed regularly by the community and our events and hospitality customers are enjoying the range of rooms and suites we have to offer.

“We are now firmly establishing ourselves as a desirable event space in South East London and Kent.”
