Thomas delighted with South Africa spell

Kent seamer Ivan Thomas believes his training camp in South Africa was ‘priceless’ preparation for an important 2018 season for the Kent Cricket Academy graduate.

The 26-year-old spent ten weeks in Cape Town with incoming assistant coach Allan Donald and said he learnt a lot from the former South Africa Test paceman.

Thomas said: “Having the opportunity to work with someone of the calibre of Allan has been a big learning curve.

“To pick his brain about what it takes to play at the highest level has been fantastic.

“It’s been a very tough 10 weeks, working on technical, physical and tactical aspects of my game.

“I’m sure Allan’s going to be a massive asset for the whole squad and I can’t wait to continue working with him.”

Thomas finished his spell in the Southern Hemisphere bowling at the South Africa squad as part of their preparations for the current Test series against India.
