Well done to the Kent women on another title success

Sunday 13th September 2009

Kent women beat arch rivals Sussex by seven wickets to win this year“s Championship title. Batsman Lydia Greenway (pictured)was the chief run scorer in the decisive match, at the Nevill Ground in Tunbridge Wells, finishing unbeaten on 89. It means they take the title with a 100% undefeated record in 2009.

Commenting on their success, Greenway said: “We won the game with six overs to spare so it probably looks fairly comfortable but it wasn“t that easy. It was a low and slow wicket but the outfield was pretty quick. I was chatting with Lottie (Charlotte Edwards) after the game and we both said that Sussex are probably a stronger side than us, on paper, so to beat them twice across the season was most impressive. Everyone pulled together and we played some great cricket.”
