Your chance to name our new neighbours

Kent Cricket has partnered with McCarthy and Stone, the UK’s leading retirement housebuilder, to launch its ‘What’s in a Name’ competition.

Supporters of the club are invited to suggest a name for their latest site in Canterbury, adjacent to The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

Early ideas for a name include a nod to the past with Tich Freeman, the all-time record County Championship wicket-taker or Wally Hardinge, second only to Frank Woolley in runs scored and appearances for Kent.

Alternatively, perhaps a more modern cricketer could adorn the development such as recently retired England captain Charlotte Edwards or former Kent skipper Rob Key.

Kent Cricket CEO Jamie Clifford, said: “The development will become part of the fabric of The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence so we’re pleased to offer our supporters the opportunity to recognise a great club figure in this way. We look forward to reading the suggestions and welcoming our new neighbours in 2017.”

Construction is already underway on the 54 privately owned Retirement Living apartments, with properties available to purchase off-plan in spring 2017 and first occupants expected in summer 2017.

Julie Ward, Regional Sales and Marketing Director at McCarthy and Stone South East, said: “We are delighted to partner with Kent County Cricket Club and give their supporters the opportunity to name our latest development.

"At McCarthy and Stone we are committed to engaging with the local communities in which we build and it’s hugely important to us that all our developments have a name that in some way links back to the heritage of the area.

"We are looking for suggestions that will resonate with both our future homeowners and Canterbury locals alike, and look forward to seeing all the entries."

To be in with a chance of naming McCarthy and Stone’s exciting new development, all you have to do is send your name and contact details, along with your suggested development name to feedback.kent@ecb.co.uk.*

The deadline for entries is 5pm onMonday 29August 2016. To find out more about the new apartments in Canterbury, please call the sales team on 0800 201 4743 or visit www.mccarthyandstone.co.uk
