Zak Crawley signs Kent contract extension

Kent Cricket is delighted to announce that opening batter Zak Crawley has signed an extension to his Kent contract, that will now run until the end of the 2024 season.

The England star was their top-scorer in the 2023 Men’s Ashes series, also breaking the record of a highest individual Ashes score from a current Kent men’s batter. His 189 against Australia at Emirates Old Trafford surpassed the 188 scored by Mike Denness for England at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in February 1975.

In all, Crawley has made 134 appearances for Kent to-date since making his first-team debut in 2017, scoring 5,649 runs. A Wisden Cricketer of the Year for 2021, the 25-year-old is one of only six Kent men’s batters to have scored 100 or more in each of England’s three domestic competitions for the Club.

On extending his time at Kent, Crawley said: “I love representing my home county and to sign on at Kent for another year is great for me personally.

“I’ve been really enjoying my cricket this Summer and after a Winter away further improving my game, I hope to hit the ground running with Kent in 2024.”

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Paul Downton, said: “This Summer Zak has once again shown what Kent supporters already knew – he is an opening batter of the highest quality across multiple formats.

“It’s fantastic to see a product of the Kent Cricket Academy do so well for Club & country and we’re delighted to have secured his services for another year.”
