Academy scholars shine at Tunbridge Wells

Academy scholar Oliver Robinson hit a fine century against Premier League side Tunbridge Wells in a hard-fought match at The Nevill Ground.

The 17-year-old Sidcup-born wicketkeeper-batsman hit nineteen fours and two sixes at the top of the order against a side featuring three current Academy scholars.

Robinson shared a century stand with Sam Smith (35) before keeper-batsmen Kai Appleby (83) and Jordan Cox (56) also added three figures in a fourth-wicket stand.

Kent Academy posted 324 for five which the hosts chased down with four wickets to spare.

Academy scholars Marcus and Julian O’Riordan posted half-centuries on home turf with a cameo of 30 from fellow scholar Charlie Russell-Vick.

Several of the Under-17 attack featured with Sevenoaks Vine left-armer James Carslaw picking up 2/75 in twelve overs.

There was also wicket apiece for Under 17 bowlers Taylor Chandler (Chestfield), Tom Jones (Folkestone) and Wajid Shah (Catford Cyphers).
