Charlie Hartley aiming for One-Day Cup comeback
Wednesday 26th April 2017
Kent pace bowler Charlie Hartley feels he is back to full fitness after a winter injury scare and is hoping to challenge for a place in the 50 over side when the Royal London One-Day Cup starts this week, writes Peter Burrowes.
Charlie played in two One-Day Cup matches last season winning the Man of the Match award for his 2/23 in six overs against Gloucestershire and he also took two wickets in the quarter-final against Yorkshire.
The 23-year-old said: “Although I want to be successful in all formats of the game I would relish another opportunity in the one-day game. There is a lot of competition for places but I feel I have started the season bowling well. I am feeling strong and fitter than for a long time.”
Whilst playing in South Africa in November Charlie injured his shoulder and after rehabilitation, he got back into bowling again in Tanzania in a pre-season T20 competition involving clubs from all over the world where he got plenty of overs in.
The right-armer scored a quick-fire 27 off just 16 balls on Tuesday for the second XI in a 50-over friendly at The County Ground, Beckenham
The second XI are next in competitive action at the same ground next Wednesday (3 May) in a Trophy match against Gloucestershire. Entry is free.
