Darren Stevens takes wickets in opening game for Kalabagan
Tuesday 30th December 2014
Kent all-rounder Darren Stevens dismissed both openers on his debut in the Dhaka Premier Division Super League.
Batting first, his Kalabagan side posted 188 for eight in a rain-reduced 45-over contest against Prime Bank.
Stevens, batting at five, contributed eight runs off 23 balls including a boundary before he was bowled by Enamul Haque Junior.
In reply, Prime Bank cruised to three figures after an opening stand of 113 before the evergreen Stevens entered the attack.
The 38-year-old, who committed his future to Kent this summer, removed Soumya Sarkar and Saikat Ali in successive overs.
Prime Bank lost two further wickets but won with eight overs to spare to secure a six-wicket victory that cemented their second place in the Super League, trailing leaders Abahani on net run rate.
Next up for Stevens is a trip to the leaders on New Year's Day before the final game against Legends of Rupganj on January 3.
You can see Darren Stevens in action next season and Australia begin the 2015 Ashes Tour in Canterbury with a four-day match at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.
