Kent v Loughborough MCCU: Key and Stevens impress in good workout

A Darren Stevens century and 92 from skipper Rob Key ensured that Kent batted out the final day of their University game.

Resuming on 11 without loss, openers Denly and Bell-Drummond departed in the first 10 overs before Rob Key and a patient Sam Northeast put on 55 for the third wicket.

Fabian Cowdrey joined the captain at the crease and struck ten fours on the way to 78 and a 102-run stand.

Key fell eight short of three figures as Whittingham claimed 4-86 before Darren Stevens’ swashbuckling knock.

The all-rounder hit nine fours and five sixes before retiring on 100 off just 74 balls, shortly before the sides shook hands.

Kent shuffled the batting order as players finished their preparation of Sunday's LV= County Championship opener against Essex at Chelmsford.
