Kent Women beat Sussex and Middlesex in T20s at Arundel

Kent Women beat Sussex and Middlesex to record an excellent double in the NatWest T20 match at Arundel Castle.

In the first match, Sussex invited the visitors to bat and Izi Noakes struck early picking up the prized scalps of Tammy Beaumont and Lydia Greenway.

Charlotte Edwards (39) and Laura Marsh (32) added 66 in 10 overs before Australian off-spinner struck twice in am over to remove Marsh and Deanna Cooper before claiming the captain Edwards’ wicket later on.

In reply, Tash Farrant was the star of the Kent attack, taking 2-13 in a fine four-over spell.

The 19-year-old England left-armer dismissed both openers named Georgia, Elwiss and Adams to reduce the hosts to 34-2.

England wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor hit 48 not out off 49 balls as Sussex looked to accelerate with wickets in hand before Laura Marsh had Paige Schofield caught behind by Lauren Griffiths.

Great bowling from Megan Belt and Charlotte Pape restricted the late scoring with four-over spells costing 19 and 20 runs respectively to seal a three-run win.
