Men’s First Team

Sean Dickson was the discovery of the summer in second XI cricket, scoring 797 Championship runs at an average above 61.

The South African-born batsman and UK passport holder scored three centuries and three 50s in the Championship to earn a pro contract and a first-team place by the end of the summer.

There were also centuries for Nick Selman, Ben Harmison, Brendan Nash and academy scholar Zak Crawley, his first for the second XI.

With the red ball, Imran Qayyum was the most prolific bowler, taking 29 wickets in seven matches.

Sam Weller took 16 in four matches and Hugh Bernard claimed 15 in five appearances.

Adam Riley, Adam Ball and Dan Smith all claimed 13 apiece.

Several of the stars of Kent Spitfires' first XI side managed to get some valuable match practice in limited overs cricket.

Alex Blake leads the Trophy batting averages with 296 runs at an average just short of 99 and strike rate of almost 136 per 100 balls.

Blake hit a hundred and one fifty, as did Sean Dickson who amassed 216 runs at an average of 54.

Fabian Cowdrey shone with the bat including a sparkling 176 not out at The Spitfire Ground helping him to an average of 92.

Adam Ball smashed a century at Polo Farm against Hampshire and Academy scholar Zak Crawley underlined his promise with 64 not out at Middlesex.

Cowdrey excelled as well with the ball, taking seven wickets at slightly more than 18 apiece.

Qayyum took six with his left arm spin and England Under-19 seamer Hugh Bernard and Dan Smith ending with five scalps.

Sean Dickson was the most prolific bat in the shortest form, smashing 270 runs at an average of 45 and strike rate of 262 per 100 balls.

Alex Blake and Ryan Davies were the only others to pass 200 runs at 186 and 229 runs per 100 balls respectively.

Spin led the way in T20 cricket with Qayyum's 17 wickets making him the most prolific in all 2nd XI cricket.

James Tredwell led the averages and economy rates in a rare cameo in a double-header at Cheltenham College.

Matt Hunn took 12 wickets as he pressed his claims for the first XI and nine scalps for spinners Adam Riley and Fabian Cowdrey helped them do likewise.
