Key disappointed with below-par Spitfires performance

KENT captain Rob Key expressed his disappointment at his post-match press conference at Edgbaston where Spitfires crashed out of Twenty20 Cup finals day following a seven-wicket defeat to Somerset.
Key tasted defeat for the second year running at finals day and blamed his sides poor bowling display for Somerset“s comfortable semi-final win with 1.1 overs in hand.
He said: “It“s just disappointing to miss out. I“m not too worried that we won“t be going to champions“ league, the most frustrating and disappointing thing is that on the big day we“ve played poorly.
“Sometimes you don“t mind getting beat. Last year Owais Shah played a fantastic knock and we nearly chased down an over-par score and almost got there, that I can take on the chin pretty well.
“But when you play rubbish, then you have to be pretty disappointed about that.”
Key, who was powerless to prevent Somerset“s flying start as his new ball bowlers served up a string of wide half-volleys, added: “You have to be right on the money at the start and we weren“t in conceding 16 off the first over.
“We bowled too wide, too full. It was a story of the first six overs really. We didn“t bat well enough in our first six, but 145 (Kent“s total) with a decent bowling show out there might have been alright, but when someone like ‘Tresco“ gets 50-odd off 30-odd balls, then you“re always going to struggle.”
