DBD: Batting in Antigua is tough

Kent opener Daniel Bell-Drummond said his century against Jamaica was one of the toughest innings of his career.
The 24-year-old Kent Cricket Academy graduate hit an unbeaten 105 in a narrow defeat and said conditions at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium can make it far from ideal for batting with 9am starts.

The England Lions batsman said: “I found it very tough especially to start as the wicket was inconsistent as it seems to be damp at the start hence why teams tend to bowl first.
“It got a lot easier as we went on but I couldn’t push my rate up as their spinners bowled extremely tightly and we were losing wickets.
“I struggled for timing but Adam Rouse came in and played a wonderful, fluent knock and I was able to play the anchor role.
“It was extremely windy so you could only target one side of the ground with the crosswind unless you were Andre Russell!”
The West Indies all-rounder’s 108 not out was the difference between the sides as Jamaica secured a three-wicket win in the final over.
