Kent League Round-Up

A devastating spell of pace bowling by Kent’s Dutch international left-arm seamer Fred Klaassen, 6 for 30 in 10 overs, propelled Premier Division side Sandwich to a 34-run victory away to Bickley Park at the weekend.

Chasing 192 to win, Bickley Park were all out for 157 in 46.2 overs, with Klaassen, in his first three overs, taking three wickets for three runs. The paceman also contributed with the bat scoring 28 in the Sandwich innings of 191 for 9 from their 50 overs, with another Kent player, teenage wicket-keeper Jordan Cox top scoring with 73.

Two other Kent players hit centuries for their respective clubs, wicket-keeper Adam Rouse scoring a faultless 106 from 89 deliveries as Sevenoaks Vine beat Beckenham by six wickets. The visitors, who included Alex Blake in their side, were 205 for 8 from their 50 overs, the home side reaching their victory target 207 for 4 with 7.4 overs to spare.

Former Kent Academy scholar and current Second XI player Marcus O’Riordan smashed 113 for Tunbridge Wells in their convincing 126 run win over Blackheath, who were bundled out for 155  replying to  the home sides 281 for 5. O’Riordan chipping in with 2 for 21 with his bowling.

Shaun Evans scored his first century for Bexley 100 not out, with a boundary off the last ball of the innings 267 for 5 as they beat Canterbury 210 for 9 by 57 runs despite a valiant innings of 81 by Kent Academy scholar Isaac Dilkes for the home side. Kent spinner and Bexley captain Adam Riley took 2 for 48.

Lordswood top the Premier Division table after a 39 run victory over winless HSBC Kent, who were 260 all out replying to the visitors 299 for 8, Linden Lockhart scoring 114 for the league leaders.
