Kent began day two on 47 for 3, and got off to a good start, with Martin van Jaarsveld (60) and Darren Stevens (67) sharing a stand of 114. Kent then lost their last seven wickets for 58 runs, all out for 219, giving Leicestershire a first-innings lead of 38.Nathan Buck picked up 3 for 49, and Jigar Naik took 5 for 34.

Will Jefferson and Matt Boyce shared their second half-century opening partnership of the match for Leicestershire during the afternoon session. They put on 72, before James Tredwell bowled Jefferson for 37. Tredwell then took the wicket of Greg Smith, before Adam Ball turned the match back in Kent’s favour, taking 3 for 14. Leicestershire slipped from 126 for two, to 148 for five to lead by 186 at stumps at the end of day two.
