Presidency arrangements for 2021

Kent Cricket can confirm that 2021 will see the duties of Club President shared between the elected 2021 President, Derek Taylor and 2020 President, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence KCVO, CB, ADC(P), whose tenure has been extended.

Sir Tim had been appointed President to lead Kent through its 150th year. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, most of the commemorative events have been postponed and the first ball of the season is yet to be bowled.

The Club has recently confirmed that it will be continuing its 150th Year celebrations into 2021, to celebrate the founding on 6th December 1870. Sir Tim will preside over these events, while Derek will handle the majority of the normal presidential responsibilities.

Kent Cricket’s Chairman, Simon Philip, said: “We are delighted that both Derek and Sir Tim will share Presidential responsibilities during 2021.

“It will be a busy year and we have an outstanding partnership in place to help bring the county together to celebrate the Club’s rich 150 years of history.

“I know that they are looking forward to working closely together during an important year for cricket in the county.”
