Klaassen in Netherlands’ squad to tour South Africa

Kent left-armer Fred Klaassen has been included in the Netherlands’ 16-strong squad to travel to South Africa to face the Proteas in three One-Day Internationals later this month.

The Oranje’s three 50-over matches against South Africa will form a part of the 2020-2023 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League (CWCSL), an international cricket competition contested at the top level of the three-league Cricket World Cup qualification system.

The Netherlands qualified for the CWCSL after winning the 2015-17 ICC World Cricket League Championship, and will now also face-off against the likes of England, India, Pakistan and Australia as they look to secure a berth at the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, scheduled to be held in India.

Klaassen has played seven ODIs in his international career to date, taking 14 wickets at an average of 15.42.

His current ODI best figures of 2-23 came against Test-playing nation, Ireland, in June 2021.
