Brendan Nash hit the winning runs for Northern Suburbs in their win in the Kookaburra First Grade One Day Competition in Queensland.

His 36 not out against Sandgate-Redcliffe clinched a six-wicket win after Norths restricted their opponents to 212/9.

Sam Northeast and Ivan Thomas endured a day to forget as their Sunshine Coast lost to Toombul by 127 runs.

Kent vice-captain Northeast was run out for a duck and Ivan Thomas’ ten-over spell went for 42 runs without a wicket.

The seamer made six not out as the Scorchers were all out for 133 in 37.3 overs in reply to Toombul’s 260/7.

Adam Ball was also on the losing side as Redlands Tigers lost to Wynnum-Manly by 236 runs.

A dominant batting display by Manly set a mammoth target of 375 to win off 50 overs which was never in sight for the Tigers.

Ball’s six overs cost 76 runs but his catch did dismiss opener Ryan Broad to break an opening stand of 233.

In reply, the 21-year-old Kent all-rounder was bowled by Peter George for one in the Tigers total of 138.

In New South Wales, Mitchell Claydon’s Newcastle City lost by five wickets at Charlestown.

The bowler made seven batting at number seven as City were all out for 91 before bowling seven overs for 17 runs.
