Sam Northeast hits half-century in State T20 final

Sam Northeast struck a second half-century in two days as Sunshine Coast lost in the final of the Queensland KFC T20 State Premier League.

The Kent captain smashed five fours and two sixes in a fine knock of 62 off just 41 balls as the Scorchers fell 25 runs short of Sandgate-Redcliffe’s 174-4 total.

Northeast had skippered Sunshine Coast to wins against Northern Suburbs and South Queensland in the inaugural edition of the competition that runs alongside the national Big Bash League.

Grade cricket returns to action on Saturday 9 January with a clash against South Brisbane.
