Brendan Nash knock not enough to prevent Northern Suburbs semi-final exit

Brendan Nash hit 43 runs off 47 balls as his Northern Suburbs side lost a 50-over semi final at home to Wynnum-Manly on Sunday.

The visitors won the toss at the Ian Healy Oval and piled on the runs – setting a target of 290 to win.

In reply, Norths never look like challenging after losing the first four wickets for ten runs after a solid start of 41-0 became 51-4 with Cameron Trask taking all four scalps.

Among them was Kent batsman Daniel Bell-Drummond, batting at 3, who was trapped LBW first ball as Trask took control.

Nash steadied the ship by adding 43 for the fifth wicket with Haydn Murray before Murray was run out and Nash followed after hitting two fours and a six in 59 minutes at the crease.

Norths now focus their attention on two-day cricket where they are ranked in the top four to qualify for a place in the semi-finals.

Next up for Northern Suburbs is the second day of their clash against South Brisbane where they are well set after day one, where Bell-Drummond scored an unbeaten half-century.
