Canterbury close in on Pharon Indoor Cricket League title

Tuesday 13th January 2015

Canterbury moved a step closer to their eleventh Pharon Indoor Cricket League title this century, writes Alan Bensted.

Polo Farm and Christ Church University are level on 22 points going intothe 13th and final round of fixtures at the Ames Levett Sports Centre this weekend.

Canterbury's first team take on Canterbury 2nds in the final game, who must avoid defeat to escape relegation from the First Division.

Canterbury 1sts have a superior run rate to Christ Church, who take on relegated Faversham.

Since Herne Bay won in 2000, the only other sides to lift the title were St Lawrence & Highland Court (2001, 2006), Whitstable (2012) and Street End (2014).

The other two divisions and the junior competition continue until the end of March.

At the moment Street End head Division 2 with Chestfield and Selling hard on their heels. Littlebourne lead a keenly contested Third Division.
