Charlotte Edwards hits match-winning knocks for Perth Scorchers

Charlotte Edwards hit back-to-back centuries as Perth Scorchers moved into the playoff places of the the Women’s Big Bash League.

The 36-year-old opener smashed 61 not out as Perth Scorchers won on Boxing Day to reach the top half of the table.

The Kent and England captain hit eight boundaries to win player of the match as the Scorchers chased 103 to beat Melbourne Stars.

England team-mate Katherine Brunt took 2-11 and hit 9 not out to cap an impressive win which takes Perth into fourth spot at the halfway stage of the season.

Edwards hit a second half-century in two days as Scorchers beat Melbourne Stars by six wickets on Sunday before a 22-run defeat to Sydney Thunder in the second-leg of a double-header at the WACA.
