All-Female First For Kent Cricket!

Thursday 13th July 2023

In fantastic news for both female cricket and the world of officiating, July 1st saw the first ever Kent Cricket League game to be umpired by two female officials.
The KCL Championship match between Canterbury and Whitstable was presided over by Kent’s Mel Juniper and Essex’s Tracey Murphy.
Not only does this milestone deserve to be recognised and celebrated, it is proof in action of the growth, energy, professionalism and commitment that are the current hallmarks of female officiating.

In Kent, we have been fortunate to have had trailblazers like Lorraine Elgar and Mel Juniper and thanks to them, the future for female officials is looking very bright.
Our hearty congratulations to Mel and Tracey and if you feel like umpiring could be something for you, Kent Cricket and the Kent ACO are holding a New Umpire Open Day at the Spitfire Ground on Sunday 30th July.
