Hobson Launches Cowdrey Girl’s Section

Kent Women’s Jodie Hobson recently supported the launch of Cowdrey Cricket Club’s new girl’s cricket section.

At Somerhill School in Tonbridge, the club saw 28 new girls arrive to give cricket a go, at a session run by their new overseas signing and supported by Hobson who gave her time to inspire the girls.

The club had a meeting with the junior committee, whose ambition for growth long term, was a focus on junior cricket and specifically the development of a girls’ section. Subsequently, a social media campaign was released which resulted in the large group of girls signing up, aged 8-12yrs, for an eight-week course.

Stuart Clarke, Cowdrey Club Secretary commented “It’s absolutely fantastic. We had Helen Fagg, Kent’s Women’s & Girls’ Development Manager, come down for the opening session, along with Kent Women’s player Jodie Hobson. We were really lucky to have both of them stay for the whole session and it was great that Kent should provide that for us. The girls thoroughly enjoyed their hour-and-a-half with the coaches.”

Cowdrey Cricket Club join a growing group of clubs across the County growing their women’s & girls’ representation.
