LGBTQ+ inclusion in cricket webinars in 2023

Out4Cricket was set up following the success of Graces and Birmingham Unicorns Cricket Clubs over the last few years.

The clubs demonstrated that the LGBTQ+ community wants to engage with cricket, but many, have not found a way to get involved that includes them for who they are.

The lessons learned from the growth of the two clubs led to conversations with cricket stakeholders, counties and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to find ways to share good practices and make the game more inclusive.

Out4Cricket now leads this work in the UK and is working across all levels of the game to make it as inclusive for the LGBTQ+ community as possible. Cricket is a brilliant game where lifelong friends are made, and we want to ensure everyone can play and be their authentic selves.

This Summer, Out4Cricket are running a series of webinars, in late May and early June, focused on building LGBTQ+ inclusion in recreational cricket.

There are four dates for people to choose from:

• Wednesday 24 May 2023 at 19:30
• Wednesday 31 May 2023 at 19:30
• Thursday 1 June 2023 at 19:30
• Thursday 15 June 2023 at 19:30

The webinars will start with a presentation exploring good practices in inclusion, both focused on the LGBTQ+ community and more broadly.

You will hear:

• Some personal stories from LGBTQ+ cricketers
• The importance of language, education and having clear and open policies and communication
• Practical tips that you can implement and some longer-term options to explore

The focus is on supporting recreational clubs to be more inclusive and welcoming regarding LGBTQ+ members and supporters. The webinar will conclude with an opportunity to ask questions and be part of a broader discussion.

The presenters, Leo and Lachlan, recently established Out4Cricket, drawing on their years of experience as members of the LGBTQ+ community in cricket and working with clubs and governing bodies to promote inclusion and participation.
