Penshurst Park Ladies Retain WSCF League Shield

Monday 17th October 2022

Penshurst Park Ladies have this season retained the Kent Women’s Softball Cricket League title, picking up the winner’s shield again for their club.

On a late summer’s day at Sevenoaks Vine CC’s second ground in Otford, Penshurst Park played their way into the Final to face High Halstow, from which they emerged County Winners and lifted the shield for the second year in a row.

Helen Fagg, Community Cricket Manager (Women’s & Girls’) commented, “The Kent Women’s Softball Cricket League was re-established this year, due to the ever increasing demand for competitive women’s cricket, in this popular and accessible format of the game. Penshurst Park have seen a huge amount of growth in their female cricket sections in recent years and they were very worthy winners on the day. We want to say a huge well done and thank you to all the clubs involved in supporting women’s softball cricket in the county and we look forward to many more years of fun and competition.”

The Kent Women’s Softball Cricket League, that re-started this year, involved thirteen women’s club teams, split into three regional groups across the county, with the top two teams from each division being invited to the County Final to compete for the winner’s shield. It was fantastic that Penshurst Park, High Halstow, Bearsted, The Mote, Luddesdowne and Cowdrey could all participate in the event and showcase some fantastic cricket, teamwork, and enjoyment.
