Secondary Girls’ Indoor County Champions Confirmed

The Kent Cricket Secondary Girls’ Indoor Cricket Season has recently come to an end, after an exciting conclusion to the Indoor Eights and Chance to Compete Indoor at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence.

This was the second year of having a two tiered competition, Chance to Compete Indoor for state schools only and the Indoor Eights, open to all. This tiered system has ensured that schools have more opportunity to play at an appropriate and enjoyable level.

The 2024 competitions have been very successful, with over 30 schools entering across both competitions and a number of new schools entering both competitions, showing the continued emergence of girls’ cricket in schools.

The structure of these competitions saw 2 regional group stages for both U13 & U15’s, hosted in some fantastic venues across Kent. Those who have hosted this year include Thanet (Ursuline College), Sevenoaks (Sevenoaks School) and Bexley Heath (Crook Log). The top 2 schools from each group stage then qualified for the County Final, which was again hosted at a first class venue, The Spitfire Ground in Canterbury. Thank you to all our venues for kindly hosting us this year.

The County Finals day for both competitions were well supported, with a fantastic atmosphere and superb cricket on display. Huge credit goes to all the players and teachers for their commitment and effort across the whole competition. A special mention also to the umpires who managed the County Finals superbly throughout the day.

1. Highworth Grammar
2. Chislehurst and Sidcup
