Dignity Funeral Directors join Kent County Cricket Club

Monday 6th February 2012

Kent Cricket has joined forces with Dignity, Britain’s leading Funeral Service provider, in what is being viewed as an innovative business partnership for the Club.

With the redevelopment of the St Lawrence Ground and its promotion as a Conference, Special Occasions and Events facility, funerals and wakes are being added to the repertoire of possible occasions. Jamie Clifford, Kent Cricket CEO, stated that, “I am pleased to announce the Club’s partnership with Dignity. Dignity is the leader in the field and is a company of considerable size. They manage over 2,000 funerals each year in Kent, with carefully co-ordinated packages that help remove some of the burdens associated with the loss of a loved one. The St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury is steeped in history and is a tranquil, beautiful location to say farewell to someone close to you or celebrate their life”

Dignity have pioneered the sale of Funeral Plans, just like Wills, sorting out in advance how matters are to be managed, when you are no longer here. There is a full range of personalised options, all offering appreciable savings. As part of the partnership with Kent Cricket, Members and Supporters will be offered the opportunity to join a Dignity pre-planning evening and will have preferential purchasing rights.

Warren Hanson, Dignity’s Kent Area Manager agreed that, “this is an innovative partnership for us and one that we believe will benefit all. Kent Cricket has exciting plans for their facilities and we look forward to being part of their future development, with the possibility of establishing a Columbarium and Memorial Wall.”

Already the Club receives many requests for Ashes scattering and some form of memorial at the ground. “This partnership and development will meet a real need we have. Thousands of people have enjoyed watching many days, if not years, of cricket at St Lawrence. We hope that through this partnership we will be to offer an appropriate send off and also an on-going place for families to visit in future years.” says Clifford.
