Originally billed as a First-Class Counties XI versus the Proteas, this match will now feature the full England Lions side as the opposition whilst South Africa prepare for their Test series against England this Summer.

This match will take place in Canterbury from 9-12 August. It will not have first-class status, meaning that players from both squads will have the opportunity to impress their respective coaches across all four days.

Seating for this match is undesignated but usual Member area restrictions will apply, with entry included in all 2022 Kent Memberships and Six Pack Ticket Bundles.

Each day of this match will count as one day of the Six Pack & Six Pack Plus Ticket Bundles.

Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and just £1 for Under-16s for the match that will take place during the School Summer Holidays.

South Africa have named their squad for the tour that begins with a white-ball series this July. The Test squad features former Kent overseas star Kagiso Rabada, who could make his first appearance back at The Spitfire Ground since July 2016.

Also included are Captain Dean Elgar, Essex’s Simon Harmer, opener Aiden Markram and a fearsome pace bowling attack including Anrich Nortje, Duanne Olivier, Lungi Ngidi, Lutho Sipamla, Marco Jansen and Glenton Stuurman.

Kyle Verreynne, who is a domestic teammate of George Linde at WP Blitz, is also in the squad of 17.

England Lions’ white-ball squad to face South Africa has so-far included names such as Somerset’s Tom Banton & Will Smeed, Nottinghamshire’s Ben Duckett, Warwickshire’s Sam Hain and Leicestershire starlet Rehan Ahmed.

Kent’s Ben Compton made a century for the First-Class Counties XI against a touring New Zealand side in a four-day match earlier this season.
