Hello, I cannot believe November is upon us already. Not long now until December is here and everyone will be gearing up for Christmas!

Despite us being in the off-season, there is still plenty going on at Kent Cricket, as you will read in this latest edition of Extra Cover.

What are the players up to this winter?
Gone are the days of players taking on jobs outside of the cricket season. Nowadays, things are much more professional. The players are athletes and being professional means dedicating their career to fitness and practice. All of the players are taking on their own different challenges this winter and going to a variety of different countries to enhance their games. Kent in Group A of the CB40 in 2011
The draw for the 2011 Clydesdale Bank 40 has taken place with the 21 teams drawn into three de-regionalised groups. You can read more on Kent“s opponents by linking to the appropriate story on the club“s website.

Get your Christmas goodies from Kent Cricket
The Kent Cricket Club Shop and Equipment Store will be open for late night shopping on Tuesday 7, 14 and 21 of December. Members and supporters can come along to the St Lawrence Ground and take advantage of some exclusive offers, which will only be available on those specific nights. The shops will be open between 11am and 8pm on each of those three days. With gifts for all the family, including a tie and cufflinks for dad, a replica shirt for mum and hoodies and equipment galore for the kids! It is well worth coming along to give those closest to you the ideal Christmas presents!

Sale bonanza coming soon
Before that, there will be the opportunity to purchase goodies galore in our weekend ‘silly sale“ on the 20 and 21 November. With items available at cost prices, there is bound to be something of interest to everyone. All Canterbury Cricket clothing will be discounted by a massive 40% while Kent hoodies will be discounted from £37.50 to just £20.00.

New website on the horizon
The club is currently working hard on the planning of a new and improved website. It will offer greater interactivity, more player information, a more efficient club shop and ticketing capability as well as regular audio and video highlights.
The new website will be launched next month so if you would like to offer ideas/comments/suggestions on what you would like to see within the new site then please email communications.kent@ecb.co.uk.

Membership details coming soon
The club is in the process of producing our membership brochure, which will detail all of the packages available in 2011. The brochure is currently with the printers and will be ready next week. It means that members and supporters will receive details through the post week commencing 15 November.

Keep up-to-date 24-7 with our new webcam
The new website, being launched shortly, will have a webcam to enable the keenest of Kent supporters to keep fully informed. The redevelopment project is in full swing and there will be the opportunity to watch how things progress as soon as the new website is launched. It is anticipated that this will be before Christmas.

Buy your tickets and support your club
Tickets are on sale for some of our upcoming events. The club has devised a diverse range of activities, which will hopefully appeal to all. If you haven“t booked your place yet for The Ashes Dinner then you are strongly advised to do so. After a sell-out at the 1970s dinner, the club has received more great support for our evening with Robert Key, Derek Underwood and Geraint Jones on Wednesday, 24th November. On the night there will be an exclusive raffle, for the chance to win a signed Andrew Flintoff cricket bat. The legendary England all-rounder has hand signed a full-sized cricket bat and it could be yours for the small outlay of just £5! Redevelopment continues to progress at a fast pace
The club“s ground redevelopment programme continues to gather pace. and it“s been all go ever since the end of September. In the last couple of weeks, the builders have put the foundations in place for the new houses, gutted the pavilion of asbestos and demolished the scoreboard on the Old Dover Road side of the ground. The ground is starting to look very different. If you would like to come along and see the latest then why not attend the Annual Members“ Carvery on Monday, 6 December? Come along on the day and ask your questions to the club“s 2011 President, John Shepherd. John will be here to look back on his successful playing days as well as discussing his new role and all things Kent Cricket. He will be joined on the top table by the club“s Chief Executive Officer, Jamie Clifford, who will answer any redevelopment questions. Click here to book your tickets for the event.
