Jimmy Neesham ready for T20 Blast Off

New Zealand and IPL star Jimmy Neesham is looking forward to his Kent Spitfires debut at The County Ground, Beckenham on Sunday (9 July).

The 26-year-old batting all-rounder from Auckland who has 12 Test and 56 white-ball appearances to his credit for the Black Caps, has joined Spitfires for the entirety of the competition.

In explaining his move to link up with Milne at the Spitfires, Neesham said: “I was over here for the Champions Trophy recently and was keen to stay on here during our winter to play some more cricket.

“The way it eventuated, we [New Zealand] didn’t hang around in the tournament as long as we’d have liked to, so I went back home and enjoyed a week off before I agreed the deal with Kent.

“Adam had already told me he was coming here and I also spoke with Tom Latham, who said he’d really enjoyed his time here last season, so I was really happy to sign on the dotted line when Kent came in and made me the offer.”

Describing his own playing style, Neesham said: “To sum it up in a word, I’d say mercurial! Seriously though, as an all-rounder playing in the shortest form of the game you always have that goal of contributing in all three facets of the game in every match you play.

“That’s maybe wishful thinking a lot of the time, but we have a pretty strong squad at Kent if you look at the names from one to 11 on paper.

“If we can all make individual contributions and win one or two games that way, then maybe gel together well as a team unit, then we should stack up pretty well to reach the quarter finals at least.”

The best way to guarantee a seat at each T20 match this summer is to buy a Six Pack for £110, a saving of £100 on gate prices with member benefits.

Adult T20 tickets cost from £22 and under 16s tickets cost £5 in advance. T20 stand tickets are available while stocks last at www.kentcricketshop.co.uk
