Jones named Kent player of the year for 2009

Sunday 27th September 2009

Wicketkeeper Geraint Jones has been named Kent player of the year for 2009, after an excellent season with both bat and gloves.

Promoted up the order to three, Jones hit five centuries in his best ever season with the bat, scoring 1,291 runs in the LV= County Championship at an average of 51.64.

Commenting on the award, Jones said: "This means a lot to me because it is voted for by the members. I enjoyed a good season but so too did the likes of James Tredwell and Martin van Jaarsveld. Winning, ahead of some strong competition, is obviously very pleasing for me.”
